Daily Defense: The Story of Zamu Gold

Healing plants from the Amazon Rainforest to the world!
Every plant has a purpose – and every person has a purpose as well! Our purpose as humans is to discover our gifts, then give them away in the service of others. The purpose of plants is to nourish us through any stress, and through all normal circumstances as we pursue a life of purpose.

There are internal and external forces at work that pull us out of balance. These include:

  • Stress
  • Toxins from our environment
  • Internal imbalances such as poor digestion
  • Deficiencies in vital nutrients and critical elements such as sleep
  • Injuries
  • Trauma
  • Sedentary lifestyle

Plants from around the world have been used to pull people back into balance through a process called homeostasis. Homeostasis is a term that describes the way our immune system works to harmonize our internal world with our external world.

The greatest abundance and concentration of plants with known immune system benefits come from the Amazon Rainforest, though certainly plants that harmonize our immune system are found throughout the world. Even plants which are not native to the Amazon Rainforest exhibit greater potency when cultivated and grown in the Amazon Rainforest biomass.

Zamu Gold™ contains plants native to the Amazon Rainforest Basin as well as plants from around the world which benefit from Amazon Rainforest biomass cultivation. This specially blended formula supports homeostasis and harmony between the outside world and our inside world. The plants of the Amazon Rainforest fulfill their purpose of nurturing homeostasis as you pursue your personal sense of purpose.

Agaricus – promoting homeostasis
One of the rare and beneficial plants of the Amazon Rainforest is
Agaricus. When toxicity, stress, injury or deficiency pulls our body out of balance, Agaricus infuses homeostasis with the power to pull us back into balance.

An example of our body being pulled into a death spiral requiring heroic intervention might be obesity — especially if you also have high abdominal fat, high cholesterol and high blood sugar.  The same is true for a low immune system – especially low Natural Killer immune system activity. We need an intact immune system to survive. Natural Killer cells are the champions of our immune system keeping “bad guys” out of our body while nourishing “good guys” inside our body. Agaricus is powerful in helping us to recover balance even when medical tests show we are clearly out of balance.

In a study conducted at the Institute of Preventive Medicine in Tokyo, Japan, Agaricus was given to people in distress. Agaricus reduced:

  • Body fat percentage
  • Visceral (belly) fat percentage
  • Cholesterol
  • Blood sugar

At the same time, Agaricus increased Natural Killer cell activity.

In their conclusion they stated that Agaricus “is useful as a health-promoting food.” Notice, their conclusion had nothing to do with “fighting disease,” but rather, with promoting health. Health-promoting indeed! The plants from the Amazon Rainforest have a purpose: they are “health promoting.”
Conclusion
Our purpose as humans is to discover our gifts, then give them away in the service of others. The purpose of plants is to nourish us through everyday stress as we pursue a life of purpose. A robust life-purpose is supported by emotional, spiritual and physical health. Physical health is supported by the process of homeostasis. Homeostasis is supported by
Agaricus and other Amazon Rainforest ingredients in Zamu Gold. So, connect the dots! Use Zamu Gold to support a life of purpose!

Inflammation:a hot medical topic

By Samuel Grief, M.D.  Samuel Grief, M.DCCFP, FCFP, was named one of  "Chicago's Top Doctors" in 2012.  Dr.  Grief is Medical Director at the University of Illinois.  He is also a member of TriVita's Medical Advisory Board.  Dr. Grief received his medical degree from McGill University in Montreal, Quebec.

Recent scientific evidence has put inflammation in the limelight as one of the potential main causes of heart attacks, strokes and many chronic diseases, including aging.  Is there merit?  In a word, yes!

Markers of Inflammation
Science has confirmed that levels of a biomarker, known as C-reactive protein (CRP), rise and fall with certain medical conditions.  CRP is an internal marker of inflammation and has been shown to rise in those experiencing a heart attack or stroke.  Other markers of inflammation, such as interleukin-2 (a protein made by the body), tumor necrosis factor (a promoter of inflammation) and adiponectin (an anti-inflammatory protein), have also been linked to certain medical conditions.  Scientists have developed or are developing new ways of lessening their inflammatory effects or increasing their  anti-inflammatory properties.

A young adult female patient of mine was recently hospitalized for what seemed like meningitis, an inflammation of the protective membranes around the brain and spinal cord.  Testing revealed she had actually developed lupus.  This disease causes inflammation of vital organs and blood vessels.  Currently, modern science still used very potent and occasionally toxic drugs to stave off inflammation caused by this disease.

There are more everyday causes of inflammation to be aware of, including asthma, arthritis, and the ever-increasing obesity and diabetes epidemic.  Smoking and a sedentary lifestyle contribute, too.  Eating processed foods like white bread or white rice will also increase inflammatory markers in your body.  High-sugar and low-fiber foods raise the blood sharply, with the body's organs working extra hard to bring all systems back into balance.  This yo-yoing causes more inflammation, which scientist believe weakens the blood vessels over time and puts your at higher risk for heart disease and strokes, and perhaps cancer.

Finally, some people are genetically programmed to age gracefully, while others are not as fortunate.  Looking your age or younger may not just be genetic luck.  It is vital that your do everything in your power to curb inflammation, and one factor that we all have control over is our response to stress. Pioneering work by the late Dr. Hans Selye confirmed many years ago that stress kills.  We now know it is due to inflammation.

So, why stress when you can laugh out loud at your situation?  Norman Cousins cured his inflammatory disease by laughing as much as he could while fighting his illness.  Learn from these lessons and apply them today.  You will live a better, healthier life!

You can control your inflammation with TriVita's Nopalea.  Become a member for free and order it every month by clicking here.

Keep pounds down as the years add up

(taken from VitaJournal October 2012 issue, written by Dr. Eric Grief M. D.)

Three simple ways to stay youthfully trim

Have your noticed your waistline expanding with age?  This expansion results from gaining fat around your mid-section.  Fat accumulation usually means your body is releasing too much insulin, a protein released from the pancreas gland.  Unfortunately, in excessive amounts, insulin promotes the storage of fat.

The solution lies in three simple things: the foods we eat, the timing of our consumption and staying relaxed.

1.  The food we eat
All sugars are not equal.  For example, drinking a glass of orange juice provides a boost of energy.   This short-lived boost of sugar energy can cause your pancreas to overreact and release too much insulin.  Unless you burn the sugar energy soon after drinking the juice, the juice can turn to fat!  Consuming sugar earlier in the day gives you the chance to use it for your activities.

Choosing foods and drink that keep sugar levels low is vital to losing fat around the mid-section.  Some examples are fish, chicken, tofu, lentils, lean beef and avocado. Most vegetables like broccoli, cucumber, cauliflower, onion, lettuce and mushrooms also promote fat loss by keeping sugar level low.

2.  When we eat
By eating small amounts frequently throughout the day, your body's metabolic machinery can stay active. On the other hand, if you skip breakfast, eat a small amount at noon and fill up later in the evening, this is a good way to gain fat around your mid-section.  Skipping breakfast leaves your body's metabolic machinery in "sleep mode."  Try to eat at least three hours before bed.  If you do snack late, then choose a protein like a few almonds or some avocado and cucumber.

3.  Stay relaxed
A restful sleep and a low-stress approach to life help to lose fat.  Sleep helps the gut release a chemical messenger called leptin, a hormone that turns off your appetite for food.  Inadequate leptin levels can cause you to be too hungry and make it more difficult to choose food and drink wisely.

Relaxing exercise that stretches and opens up your body's muscles and tissues helps you release fat better.  Deep breathing, gentle stretching movements and walking are all good.

The enemy is inflammation:We are people on fire!

(taken from VitaJournal September 2012 reported on TriVita Wellness Report- by Brazos Minshew, TV's Chief Science Officer)

Less than a hundred years ago the common health challenges we faced were infections.  With the discovery of pathogenic bacteria and the advent of proper hygiene, death from these problems became less common.  Inflammation has become the new epicenter of disease, disability and death.

Inflammation and the immune system
Sometimes our own healthy cells become the focus for disease.  This often happens because of toxic exposure.  Unfortunately, many of today's poisons are simply too strong and they overwhelm our detoxification system and enter healthy cells.  These cells now become the target of disease, infection and inflammation.

Many diseases arise when our immune system becomes so overworked that it can no longer tell the difference between healthy cells and sick cells.  It attacks all cells of a particular type equally.  This body system is never able to heal and chronic inflammation sets in.

When a toxin overwhelms your detoxification process it will likely settle in your weakest system.  This is acute inflammation.  With chronic toxicity comes the opportunity for chronic inflammation.  In the case of chronic inflammation, the immune system attacks any sick cell as well as any healthy cell that looks like the sick one.

Help put the fire out
Inflammation arises because of :
  • Toxins
  • Injuries
  • Emotional distress
  • Nutrient deficiency
We can help ease the fire with anti-inflammatory Bioflavonoids such as those found in TriVita's Nopalea (tm).

We are a nation on fire.  This is at the heart of the near epidemic of autoimmune disorders we are facing.  Strategies of nutrients and nurturing will help us fight inflammation and help us with what we do best: heal!

You can purchase Nopalea (tm) by becoming a member (it's free) and receiving a
discount from non-member prices by clicking here.  Any questions, you can post a comment or email me.
